Port communication香园围口岸又称莲塘口岸，传闻年底开通，有望缓解其它口岸交通压力8月28日，经过520天的艰苦奋战，深圳地铁2号线2131标段莲塘站站后折返线矿山法隧道右线初支顺利贯通。深圳地铁2号线三期工程，西起2号线终点新秀站，终于莲塘站。
此次贯通的莲塘站站后折返线起于地铁2号线莲塘站东端，终点位于地铁8号线起点梧桐山南站。预计于2025年底开通。待深圳地铁2号线三期工程建成通车后，8号线一期工程也差不多开通。届时两条线将贯通运营，串联起罗湖、福田、南山和盐田的轨道交通。
香园围口岸（深圳方面称为莲塘口岸）将成为深圳与香港之间的第7个陆路口岸，新口岸也有助缓解现有其它口岸的繁忙情况。
